KJWW Engineering Consultants served as the MEP and technology design engineer for construction of a new three-story academic classroom building. The 56,000 SF Weber Center houses, classrooms and offices for the university departments of business, education and social sciences.
Influenced by a number of buildings in and around the campus, Weber Center combines contemporary and traditional building forms, creating a modern building that fits comfortably into its traditional context.
Among the numerous outstanding features of this facility, Weber Center’s state-of-the-art technology includes nine smart classrooms. Each of the smart classrooms has a teaching station, projector, projection surface such as a screen or smart board, sound system and media retrieval capability that includes video, CD-ROM and satellite dish. Two of the nine smart classrooms are also equipped for long-distance learning allowing, for example, a guest lecture via satellite.
Additional features include a 5,000 SF Entrepreneur & Learning Center for hosting business conferences, company presentations and speakers; a 60-seat tiered lecture hall; two computer labs; 35 faculty offices; six family and consumer counseling rooms grouped by twos for observation and a rat lab; a student lounge; and several seminar/breakout rooms.
