The new Workforce Development Center stands at the heart of the Kankakee Community College campus. The 50,000 SF addition features a 3-story entrance tower that serves as a visual beacon to the community and creates a new front door for the campus. The building space extends the college’s workforce training and corporate/continuing education offerings.
The building addition features:
- 13 classrooms
- Computer labs and seminar rooms
- Dining presentation room
- 100-person multi-media lecture room/auditorium
- Expansion of the student services area
- Additional counceling and financial aid offices
- A Career Resources Center for both employers and students
- Faculty and administrative offices
The building features specialized media systems in the classrooms and computer lab spaces for teaching purposes. The project also included the expansion of the existing chiller plant with two new 300-ton chillers.
