Holy Cross Hospital, the second largest hospital in Maryland, is a 450-bed tertiary care hospital. It offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient primary and specialty services with specialized expertise in surgery, cardiac, neuroscience, cancer, women and infants services, and senior care. The $251 million, 242,101 SF new eight-story bed tower will provide them an opportunity to move to a new standard of private room care and give them the opportunity to look at the introducing new medical technologies. KJWW has teamed with KMLK group and Smith Group Architects to provide the best design for the new bed tower expansion.
KJWW completed a comprehensive evaluation of existing technology and needs (based on project program) to provide an equipment budget of $10.4M. This budget was developed based on best practices and clinical workflows and the selection of appropriate technology that aids in meeting these requirements. A framework to identify and account for any equipment that will be purchased as part of yearly capital budgets was developed and presented to key hospital stake holders representing Strategic Project Planning, Purchasing, Biomedical Engineering and Facilities departments. Hospital leadership is pleased with the quality of service provided by KJWW and has been given the responsibility to monitor and update the multi-year replacement plan of these transactions until the completion of the project. This process will greatly benefit the hospital by ensuring that any technology being considered is evaluated for its suitability and appropriateness at the new project location and generate project savings.
Eight-story bed tower will include:
- MICU and SICU
- Medical –Surgical Inpatient Floors
- Expansion of Pre-Op Area
- Relocation of Dialysis Department
